Os Japanther (Ian Vanek e Matt Reilly) vão estar aqui. A banda que interessa, a banda que faz um gajo confiar ainda nessa gaja chamada música pop. Uma banda rock com canções de amor. Podia estar para aqui falar do importantíssimo currículo dos Japanther, do seu fabuloso pedigree e o caralho. A dizer, a quem não sabe: que nasceram no mesmo viveiro que os Black Dice, os Lightning Bolt, os Animal Collective, os Deerhoof e os Sightings. Que resistiram a modas. Que foram “roubados” pelos No Age, Sleigh Bells e Wavves. Que são amigos do Penny Rimbaud, dos Ninjasonik e de Dan Graham. Que já fizeram uma ópera e tocaram numa piscina. Não vale a pena. O que é preciso saber é isto: as canção  todas boas, tão boas que até dói. São como bombas de alegria, entusiasmo, paixão, festa. Um gajo ouve e fica apaixonado. POP. PUNK. HARDCORE. HIP-HOP. NOISE. INDIE. SPOKEN WORD. E mais qualquer coisa. Décadas de música a dançar juntas. Melodia, velocidade, chinfrineira adorável. Com os Japanther, a pop e o rock voltam a provocar aquela estranha sensação de que é possível mudar o futuro e a vida. De que tudo é possível. Num concerto. JM

Japanther (aka Ian Vanek and Matt Reilly) is coming to ZDB this November. These guys from the US form a band who really matter, who make pop music and write silly love songs. We could talk endlessly about the importance of Japanther, its fabulous pedigree and all that, but we won´t. Instead, to those who don´t know, Japanther was born in
the same era as Black Dice, The Lightning Bolt,  Animal Collective, Deerhoof and The Sightings – the same bands who resisted the fads that were “stolen” by No Age, Wavves and Sleigh Bells. The band counts Penny Rimbaud,  Ninjasonik and the American artist Dan Graham as friends and made its name with unique performance situations,
appearing alongside synchronised swimmers and creating an opera. But these are unnecessary facts. What you really need to know is this: the songs are good, so good it hurts. They are like bursts of joy, enthusiasm, passion and celebration – you listen and feel passionate. POP. PUNK. HARDCORE. HIP-HOP. NOISE. INDIE. SPOKEN WORD. And something else. Decades of music to dance together. Melody, speed, all of which are totally adorable. With Japanther, the pop and rock come together to create this strange feeling that you can change the future and that anything is possible.
